Women in Revenue: Getting to Know WIR Founder, Shari Johnston
At UDG, we know what it truly means to connect with people, dedicating our careers to fostering and motivating diverse sales and marketing teams. We emphasize that having high-achieving business and revenue goals isn’t the only thing we should focus our attention on, we must also work to challenge, innovate, educate, and mentor.
At the core of achieving and influencing impactful changes in B2B marketing communities, our UDG founders are also members of Women in Revenue (WIR): Cari is the co-founding Board Member and Dana runs partnerships. WIR is an organization focused on three main objectives:
- Educating and spreading awareness of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
- Giving back to women through mentorship programs, opportunities, and access to resources.
- Moving members’ careers forward in a fun and impactful way.
We were fortunate to be able to discuss the driving forces behind Women in Revenue with Founder, Shari Johnston. She’s a true visionary and we are eternally grateful for her courage and determination to start this wonderful organization.
WIR: What drove you to launch Women in Revenue?
SJ: After finishing up my fifth B2B SaaS startup as a marketing leader, I became increasingly passionate about how I could make more of a difference for all the amazing women I’ve had the pleasure of working with and mentoring throughout my career.
WIR: How did you get started?
SJ: Through discussions with my fellow sales and marketing leaders it became clear we all saw a real need to address the lack of mentorship opportunities, diversity in the boardroom, and support needed to elevate women in their careers. With this shared passion, Women in Revenue was born with a mission to provide mentorship, education, and networking opportunities to advance women’s careers.
WIR: Are you surprised by the tremendous response?
SJ: Yes, I have been overwhelmed with the positive response and growth of this group and can’t wait to see what great things we can accomplish with our shared vision.
Thank you, Shari, for your hard work and dedication to advancing women’s careers. The future is bright.
We love that we can surround ourselves with other strong, driven business women striving to achieve the same thing: create and grow a network of fearless women leaders and empower generations to continue to impact the tech industry. There will always be opportunities for B2B sales and marketing work, and we’re making sure women will have a seat at the table to challenge and innovate revenue-generating roles.
